Treatment Small Varicose Veins

We offer treatment for varicose veins at our spa on Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia, and 3 other locations throughout Pennsylvania – NewtownChester Springs and Lancaster.

Small varicose veins can be unsightly and uncomfortable condition.. This condition is most common in the veins of the legs closest to the surface of the skin, but can occur elsewhere in the body.

Early stages of varicose veins can be treated by elevating the legs, exercise, and wearing elastic stockings to compress the veins. However, these methods are not a permanent solution to eliminate varicose veins.

If left unchecked, varicose veins can lead to further vascular complications, including:

  • blood clotting in affected veins
  • inability to stand or walk for long periods of time, limiting employment options
  • skin conditions, which can lead to skin loss
  • skin ulcers or venous ulcers, which can develop into carcinomas or sarcomas

Sclerotherapy to Treat Small Varicose Veins

Sclerotherapy is a non-invasive procedure where a medicine designed to shrink the vein is injected into the enlarged vein. Ultrasound is used to assist the doctor in visualizing the site where the injection will go. After the medicine shrinks the vein, it will be naturally absorbed into the body. This type of non-invasive therapy is preferred over surgical procedures. The sclerosing solution also seeks to close the vein which is “feeding” the varicose veins, thus ensuring those veins will not return.
