Reversing visible signs of aging and addressing imperfections has long been a pursuit for many of us. Our skin protects us from the sun, regulates our body temperature, and guards our other organs against infection. Its work never stops.

The constant exposure it experiences and takes a toll over time, though. Additionally, genetic predispositions, skin tone, lifestyle, and environment influence how our skin ages.

Physicians and researchers have discovered one of the best ways to combat changes to our skin is by encouraging our bodies to repair the damage. VI Peels are a revolutionary anti-aging solution that safely exfoliate the skin while initiating an internal reconstructive response.

VI Peels come in a variety of formulations. They can address many common skin concerns and produce striking, natural-looking results.

What is VI Peel?

A VI Peel is a breakthrough medium-depth chemical peel developed by the Vitality Institute. The Institute’s researchers designed six different treatments that target specific dermatologic concerns. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, skilled estheticians can assess your skin’s needs and then apply the best formula to help you achieve optimal results.

Traditional chemical peels use acids to penetrate the skin and remove dead cells, revealing more vibrant skin. Their chemicals are safe yet harsh, leading to obvious skin peeling and extended recovery times.

VI Peels reach into the epidermis, or the middle layer of skin. They also remove dead and damaged cells to exfoliate the skin and restore its vibrancy. A VI Peel initiates a protein response, causing your body to elevate its production of naturally produced chemicals that support healthy skin development.

Researchers have infused the formula used in VI Peels with supportive compounds that soothe the skin and kickstart the healing process in order to minimize patient downtime and the extent of peeling.

VI Peel treatment can correct wrinkles and fine lines, skin discoloration, keratosis pilaris, acne, and scarring caused by acne. Providers have embraced the treatment for its multifunctionality, minimal invasiveness, and ease of use.

VI Peel Blends Comparison

There are six different VI Peel blends. They consist of varying concentrations of trichloroacetic acid (TCA), phenol, salicylic acid, vitamin C, and tretinoin. The peels all break down damaged skin cells while promoting regeneration. All are safe and effective, but each targets a specific dermatological concern.

VI Peel Precision Plus

The VI Peel Precision Plus ingredients are the same as the other VI peels’ but with a 25% stronger concentration. In addition, the designers added hydroquinone and kojic acid to promote reconstruction. The additional compounds further prevent discoloration while your skin heals.

Its unique formulation makes the VI Precision Plus chemical peel especially effective for individuals with persistent dark and discolored spots, also known as hyperpigmentation.

If you’re debating VI Peel vs. Precision Plus, discussing your treatment goals with your provider is a good idea. An accurate assessment of your sun damage and the nature of your discoloration is critical to selecting the formulation that will most efficiently restore your skin’s balance and vitality.

The VI Plus Peel is likely the best option for people with sun damage, melasma, UV-induced pigmentation, and post-inflammatory changes hyperpigmentation (PIH).

VI Peel Original

The VI Peel Original is the standard formulation of the VI Peel. It is suited for all skin types and offers numerous benefits. The Original Peel provides rapid results and a fresh glow while acting the most mildly on the skin.

Individuals in their 20s and 30s concerned about early signs of aging should consider the peel for its ability to tighten skin, smooth skin texture, and restore shine.

The VI Original is likely the best starting point for individuals considering their first peel. You and your provider can gauge your response to this treatment, then select the optimal peel for your future treatments based on your initial results.

VI Peel Advanced

This VI Peel Advanced is a deeper-reaching alternative to the other formulations, making it especially effective for visible signs of aging in people over 40. Its rejuvenating formulation initiates the body’s repair response to address deeper wrinkles and catalyzes better inflammatory responses than the VI Original.

Additionally, the VI Advanced is more effective at smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. By upping your collagen production, which naturally slows as you age, the peel also restores elasticity, adding vibrancy to your skin. Results with VI Advanced are soft and natural-looking because they reveal your fortified skin once the peeling process is complete.

VI Peel Purify

Researchers formulated the VI Peel Purify to treat active and persistent acne. While it functions the same as typical chemical peels, the VI Purify goes further by addressing the underlying causes of acne breakouts.

The treatment effectively cleanses your pores by removing dead skin cells and excess oil that trap contaminants. In addition, the Purify Peel attacks the p. acnes bacteria, which contributes to skin blemishes and fuels breakouts.

The VI Peel Purify treats adult acne, excessive oil, acne scars, and acne characterized by skin discoloration and hyperpigmentation. If you experience stubborn acne that has not responded to other topical treatments, the VI Peel Purify is an ideal option.

VI Peel Purify with Precision Plus

Adults experiencing altered pigmentation and acne with associated scarring can address both concerns using the VI Peel Purify with Precision Plus. The combination treatment removes the dead skin cells and oil that clog pores causing breakouts.

Simultaneously, the Precision Plus component inhibits melanin production. This suppression reduces the occurrence and appearance of acne scars and skin discoloration caused during acne repair.

Most importantly, this treatment produces smoother and more radiant skin. Adults with acne, excess oil, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation related to their acne should consider the VI Peel Purify with Precision Plus.

VI Peel Cost

Your location, your provider’s credentials, and the type of facility where you receive this treatment can affect the cost of your VI Peel. The best way to ensure that your treatment is safe and effective is to receive it from a reputable provider with a proven track record of success.

Generally, VI Peels will be more expensive in major metropolitan areas than in rural locations. Your total number of treatments, post-treatment regimen, and follow-up visits can also influence your provider’s pricing. Almost all insurance plans consider peels an elective procedure and will not cover them.

VI Peel for Acne

VI Peel is uniquely suited to address ongoing acne breakouts and the lingering effects of acne. Acne occurs due to the buildup of contaminants in your pores that get trapped by excess oil on your skin. The ingredients in the VI Peel effectively cleanse the skin’s surface and reduce the amount of excess oil on it.

As your body repairs damage from acne, it often leaves scarring and discoloration from skin reconstruction. Many people successfully use VI Peels for hyperpigmentation. By breaking down the damaged cells and suppressing melanin production, a VI Peel can erase acne scars.

A skilled provider such as Bella Medspa can assess your acne and scarring to determine what results are possible with a VI Peel. Multiple treatment sessions may be necessary to achieve your desired outcome, but the minimal invasiveness and little downtime of VI Peels make them an excellent treatment option, especially compared to more invasive treatments like plastic surgery.

VI Peel for Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation is a highly common condition that emerges as you age. Sometimes called sun spots, liver spots, or age spots, it occurs when damaged skin cells overproduce melanin, the compound that gives your skin its color. This response can stem from overexposure to the sun, age, genetic predisposition, and/or environmental factors.

Hyperpigmentation presents itself as black, gray, brown, or red spots or patches across your skin. VI Peels effectively treat hyperpigmentation by removing the damaged cells responsible for generating the excess pigment and suppressing melanin production in the new cells that replace them.

The new skin that emerges after the peeling process will have little to no discoloration, a more even tone, and restored pigmentation.

VI Peel for Melasma

Melasma is a benign skin condition that causes brown or gray-brown patches to appear on the forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin. It’s usually the result of hormone changes, sometimes due to pregnancy.

The phenol in the VI Peel, which accounts for about 10% of the blend, is particularly effective at reducing the appearance of dark spots. The ingredients penetrate the skin to break down the discolored areas, which then flake away in the days after the peel.

The spot removal may be permanent, but maintenance peels with the same or different blends may be necessary to maintain your skin’s new appearance.

VI Peel Peeling After Treatment

The key component of your treatment is the VI Peel peeling process. Simply breaking down the damaged skin is not enough. It must be shed effectively to allow the revitalizing glow to shine through.

Clients’ primary question following a VI Peel is “When does peeling start?” Typically, the process begins on the third day after application. The formula needs time to penetrate the skin and break down the dead and damaged cells before they can be purged.

The procedure is mostly pain-free, with most people only reporting mild tingling or burning as the ingredients work within the skin to destroy unhealthy cells. That peeling will continue for seven days as long as you follow your post-care regimen and protect your skin from sun exposure.

Every VI Peel blend contains supportive ingredients that foster skin growth. As a result, the peel itself is relatively subtle. You’ll be able to go to work, school, and social activities without feeling self-consciousness about skin flaking off or pronounced redness.

VI Peel Healing Process

A VI Peel has two phases: the removal of dead skin which exfoliates the surface, and the healing process which rejuvenates the skin to restore its vibrancy and shine. Two of the VI Peel’s greatest advantages are its quick turnaround and minimal downtime.

VI Peel Recovery

Despite its ability to reach as deep into the skin as other peels, VI Peel’s unique formulation makes the application itself painless and limits post-treatment discomfort. The primary consideration during your initial recovery will be to avoid anything that will cause the peel to wash away.

Limit excessive sweating from exercise or heat, minimize your sun exposure as much as possible, and refrain from washing your face for at least several hours after your procedure.

VI Peel Timeline

The peeling with a VI Peel is relatively mild, especially compared to traditional chemical peels. Generally, the dead skin comes off in a light peel that begins on the third day and lasts through day seven.

The peeling is typically so faint that it can be hidden with moisturizer, further minimizing your downtime. For some people, the peeling is imperceptible.

That being said, it’s possible for the peeling to be more pronounced depending on your treatment goals and the blend you choose.

VI Peel Healing Process

Immediately following this treatment, your skin will appear mildly tan, yellow, or red. Between days one and two, you’ll feel your skin tighten. There will be no visible evidence of having undergone the treatment. Pigmented areas may initially darken. On day three, you will begin to peel.

Peeling usually starts around the mouth and then expands across the face over the next four days. By the end of day seven, your revitalized skin will be apparent.

VI Peel Recovery Time

Your recovery will be dictated by your body’s inflammatory response to the VI Peel and its resulting collagen production. Your final results will be visible four days after you stop peeling. Your skin will need time for its PH-level to rebalance before the final effects emerge.

Your revitalized skin will have a youthful glow. Hyperpigmented areas will be made more subtle or even restored to their standard pigmentation. There will also be a visible improvement in your skin’s tone and texture.

VI Peel Aftercare

Maximizing the effects of your VI Peel requires adherence to a strict aftercare routine. Your provider will give you instructions based on the specific peel you received and your skin type. Diverging from these aftercare instructions can diminish the peel’s effects and/or result in redness, itching, and/or burning.

VI Peel Recovery Time

The most important aspect of VI Peel aftercare is to avoid sun exposure. Following the procedure, your skin will be more sensitive to UV rays due to the ingredients in the VI Peel. Additionally, breaking down the outer layer of dead skin cells leaves you more vulnerable to sun damage.

VI Peel Post-Care

You should not apply anything to your skin immediately following the application of the peel. Within four to six hours of your treatment, you’ll need to wash the peel away with a mild cleanser and water. In general you’ll be able to treat your skin normally, but you’ll need to avoid scratching, rubbing, and picking at your face.

Your provider will supply you with a Post Peel Protectant that must be applied two to four times per day. Moisturizer can be applied liberally for the four days that you’re peeling. You must avoid direct sunlight for the first seven days while you shed and peel. The Vitality Institute recommends applying an SPF 50+ sunscreen every morning.

VI Peel Aftercare Kit

Your provider will direct you to use an aftercare kit that includes post-peel towelettes and post-treatment repair cream. These products are designed to optimize cell removal and maximize the rejuvenating effects of the peel to reduce your recovery time.

Neglecting the aftercare kit can extend your peeling time and compromise your results.

VI Peel Directions

The key to a successful peel is following your provider’s instructions. It is best to discontinue your normal skin routine and follow the aftercare directions you receive. The alcohol content or chemical makeup of certain topical products could damage your skin, stop the exfoliation process, and prevent you from effectively shedding.

VI Peels have the shortest recovery time and the simplest aftercare routine of any chemical peel because their formulas are simultaneously deep-reaching yet gentle. As long as you follow your provider’s instructions, you shouldn’t experience any post-treatment complications.

VI PEEL BEFORE & AFTER

VI Peel FAQ

The final cost will depend on how many treatments you need to attain your desired results. At Bella Medspa, this treatment costs $325.

The in-office procedure in which the provider cleanses your skin and applies the formula only takes about 20 to 30 minutes. Once you leave the provider’s office, you can resume your daily routine without restrictions as long as you minimize sweat, keep your face dry, and avoid sun exposure.

Peeling begins on the third day after the treatment and concludes by the end of the seventh day. Individuals who receive more concentrated formulas, like VI Peel Precision, may undergo a secondary peel that begins on day seven.

The nature of your skin, the extent of your skin damage, the formulation of the VI Peel, and your overall health will ultimately determine how long your results last. Adhering to your aftercare instructions and then resuming an appropriate skincare routine will extend your results.

Generally, VI Peels can be administered every four weeks until your desired results are achieved. Most people follow up with about three peels per year to maintain their results.

The post-peel towelettes contain active ingredients that combat acne, smooth the skin, and stimulate revitalization. They also enhance exfoliation and help your skin purge dead cells.

Using the towelettes ensures that you will peel quickly and shed the maximum amount of skin possible. Neglecting the towelettes will compromise your results and/or prolong your peeling time, which could cause you to forfeit the glow you’re seeking.
